LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional social network, boasting over 930 million members in 200 countries around the world. So, if you’re hoping to hire for positions at your company, there’s a good chance that the talent you’re targeting is on LinkedIn if you can connect with them. But how much does it cost to post a job on LinkedIn–and does it cost extra to make sure your job ad gets in front of the right candidate?
Depending on your needs, you may be able to post your job listing on LinkedIn for free. There are also paid options that let you set a budget and get top placement in job recommendations, as well as instant mobile alerts to the best candidates. Here’s what you need to know.
If you’re ready to dive in now, post your first job on LinkedIn Jobs! LinkedIn Jobs uses screening questions and candidate rating to help you filter the most qualified candidates—so you can find the people you want to interview, faster.
This article will focus on LinkedIn pricing, however, if you are looking for other options, we would recommend ZipRecruiter. ZipRecruiter offers free job searching for job seekers and a free trial for job seekers.
How Much Does It Cost To Post A Job On LinkedIn?
LinkedIn offers two options for employers who want to post jobs on the site: free or promoted.
Free Job Posts On LinkedIn
As the name would suggest, the free LinkedIn job post option comes with no charge–but a few limitations. Employers who opt for free job posts can only post one job at a time. If you select this option, your listing will be visible only to your connections.
However, even with a free job post, your listing will appear in search results for job seekers who are looking for jobs that fit your open role. You will also have access to applicant management tools that allow you to filter candidates and manage them.
Promoted Job Posts On LinkedIn
LinkedIn says that promoted job posts get three times as many qualified applicants as free job posts. Choosing the paid option allows your job post to:
- Appear at the top of search results for related job searches
- Get top placement in job recommendations for qualified candidates who are browsing jobs based on “Similar Jobs and “Based on Your Profile”
- Appear in instant mobile alerts to candidates
You’ll also receive smart alerts when a candidate who matches your specifications applies to your open job.
LinkedIn’s pricing works on a pay-per-click model. You can set a daily or total budget for each job you pay to promote. You won’t be charged for viewing your own post, for multiple views from the same candidate, for views by LinkedIn employees, or for clicks from users who aren’t signed into LinkedIn.
LinkedIn makes recommendations for the budget of each promoted post based on the job title and the job market in your area, but you set the final budget. Charges accrue daily and are due 30 days from the date of the job posting, within 48 hours of closing your job, or immediately if your balance across all jobs reaches $500.
About how much does each promoted job posting cost? It depends on your budget. For example, if you set a total budget of $400, your job post will cost up to $400. It may not reach that cap, but if it does, your listing will pause automatically until you add to the budget or close out the job.
On the other hand, if you choose a $15 per day budget and run your job post for 30 days, your total cost will be up to $450. Again, it might be less if the post doesn’t reach its budget.
Note that the jobs don’t automatically pause or close unless they reach the budget. Your job post will remain open and continue to spend until you choose to close it.
